Oak Garage with Store and Room Above in East Sussex

This full span first floor oak frame garage design includes a secure storage bay with the use of a pair of garage doors and a side partition. Next to it an open bay with a custom half bay has been used, this not only gives this oak framed building another space for a vehicle but also plenty of room for further storage.

The handy half bay attachment on this garage also creates a bigger foot print which in turn increases the space in the first floor above. The first floor is accessed through a personnel door via the oak external staircase. A barnhip style roof has been used in this design with the handmade clay tiles. Two dormer windows with triple casement windows painted in sadolin superdec grey tie in with the garage doors below which have been given the same treatment. These dormer windows allow a large amount of natural light into the first floor space and also when you are upstairs makes the space feel much larger. Two Velux windows have been used on the other side of the roof which open out and look onto fields and the beautiful surrounding countryside.

This first floor space could easily double as accommodation or a home office but is currently used as a textiles and art studio. The internal fitting out in this space has been done to a lovely high standard by our clients.

Larch weatherboard has been used on this oak framed building with ODC extra wide bricks which allow the frame to site flush upon. Custom 2 Bay Garage First Floor Build in Kent

Over the years we have produced a huge number of different garage designs to fulfill the needs and desires of clients. This is a two bay oak frame garage that we completed years ago and popped back to take some photo’s. It now has a large first floor that has been turned into a snug, as well as it’s very own cinema room above the garage.

The joinery of this building includes two double garage doors and three light opening windows at the front of the building in order to provide natural lighting into the garage, as well as a personal door with external staircase to the rear providing you with access to the upper floor of the building.

The courtyard and driveway where this first floor garage is situated is a bit of a suntrap and you can see how the timbers have silvered and softened in colour with exposure to the sun.

The roof of this building has been done with a Barn Hip & roof machine made clay tiles.

Basic 4 Bay First Floor Garage in West Sussex

This four bay first floor full span garage comprises of larch weatherboard, softwood rafters, oak frame and oak external staircase. One pair of garage doors and a larch partition have been used to create three open bays and one bay with a lockable secure space.

Next to this, is the oak external staircase, which leads up to a personnel door into the first floor area. Here two dormer windows and a gable roof are used to maximise the space on the first floor level. Slate roof tiles have been used on the roofing which not only looks great but helps to bring the ridge height of the building down always an important issue when applying for permission which is always needed with first floor garages.
