A fully hipped slate roof with a reduced pitch has been used on this luxurious outbuilding, whilst full light French windows & doors flood the eternal space with natural light and offers scenic views out onto the garden and fields beyond. The Foleigh Home Office, Sauna and Gym in Essex

The Foleigh is a habitable spec outbuilding which has been designed to bring in lots of natural light and maximise the views out through the front of the building with large spacing between the oak posts, aluminium bi-folding doors and Velux windows in the vaulted ceiling.

A front porch has been designed which is an excellent feature to this outdoor living building as it gives shelter from the elements and makes the building more practical throughout the seasons to open up for air flow letting the outside in when opening up the large bi-folding doors, ideal when internally it is being used for a home gym & sauna. The front porch area also provides a space ideal to store firewood and taking a pair of muddy boots off, after a long wet walk.

The Foleigh’s vaulted fully hipped roof has been designed to minimise the blocking of any views and sunlight, whilst still creating a vaulted ceiling internally, as a result it maximises the floor print of the building making it feel much bigger when inside. The design scheme & roofing design was favoured by the local council when we attained planning permission for our clients.

Planning an Outbuilding for an At Home Gym, Sauna and Office

Extending the roofline over the porch also allowed us to create an internal storage area. Originally the building was designed as a home office / gym but the clients loved it so much they decided to focus their efforts into making this building a place for exercise & relaxing that can be used all year round by the entire family. Complete with multigym machine, bench press, TV, dumbbell rack, excise bike, pull up/ ab stand, yoga space, built in sauna and outdoor shower, the Foleigh ticks a lot of boxes and can be used for many other uses.

The Craft Room Kent in Surrey

This compact garden work shop oak frame building measures a mere 3.3m in length & 2.9m in width. There is also an open porch element on the right hand side that adds an additional 1.1m long shelter for a bike store.

Despite this building having a little footprint the vaulted ceiling helps make it feel a lot bigger and this is further emphasised by all the natural light that floods the building through a rear Velux window and full length double casement French doors & windows which all create a lovely space to work in.

Internally the building has been fitted and insulted to our high outdoor living spec. The craft room has then been finished off with internal decorating, electrics and underfloor heating. The roofed section of the porch area has been sealed off, as well as tongue and grove boarding being used externally. This has created a handy storage space inside the building similar to that of a small loft area.

Home Office Tardis and Gazebo in Surrey

This fullspan shaped oak framed building includes an undercover outdoor entertainment area and a habitable dwelling space for a home office. This building combines a gazebo design with a home office allowing the building to be used for both business & pleasure.

A barn hip roof has been used on both ends with clay Penshurst tiles. Timber wise, larch weatherboard has been used and externally you can see how the larch weatherboard and oak frame are starting to silver with age from U.V. exposure.

The outdoor entertainment area is open sided on two sides, similar to our oak framed gazebo & car port buildings. This provides an ideal space to look out onto the garden and enjoy some alfresco dining. Our clients have clad the ceiling in pine and put in some external lighting to create a bar and BBQ area as well as a seating & dining area that can be used rain or shine all year round. Between the framework internally in this area brickwork has been used instead of stud work and weatherboard on the rear internal wall and again on the side wall of the office area.

The Office space has been done to a habitable dwelling spec including use breather membrane and top of the range insulation. The rest of the internal fitting out is normally the responsibility of the client and their contractors as you can see they have done a great job and have managed to create a multifunctional use with this frame design. 3 different windows have been used in the manufacture of this building. these include 1 triple casement window with one fixed pane and two openers. There is a single casement window that opens out from the ensuite wet room as well as a custom made circular window at the very top off the building.

With views and a window that open out the garden this home office really revels in the perks of having a separate working from home space. The vaulted ceiling is this space really helps this and despite the small foot print of this building a lot of different uses have been thought out cleverly in its design.

Also incorporated into the home office section is space to relax on the sofa, a build in kitchenette, a wet room complete with shower, toilet & sink as well as a small mezzanine floor for a bed similar to the design found normally on boats. on the few courses above slab our extra wide ODC bricks have been used. Office and Gym Outbuilding in Warwickshire

This multipurpose outbuilding tucked away at the end of the brings a whole new meaning to the phrase, “working from home.”

French doors open out from a snug & gym onto a patio area perfect for alfresco business lunches or even summer family BBQ’s on the weekend.

Large panels of glass have been used allowing lots of natural light into the building as well as framing the oak frame and other attributes of the building. Hidden to the rear office space offer a sanctuary to work from.

Home Office and Workshop in East Sussex

This building uses a combination of the catslide & full span shapes to help create a multi-functional building within a minimal footprint. The catslide garage to the rear allowed for a garage space which was used for storage as well as a workshop area with access from the drive via a pair of softwood garage doors painted in a slate grey. This space then opens up to the full span shape which allows for a small space including a bike store to the left with a personnel door behind leading out onto the garden.

The other side of the building where the full span shapes continues, a home office has been created with double casement full length French doors which lead out onto views of the garden giving easy access a few metres away to the side of the house & kitchen. A mullion & double casement window lend a hand in bringing lots of natural light into this building, whilst the vaulted ceiling and full length French doors also help create an enviable feeling of space and luxury, working from home with views out onto the garden.

Garden Office in Buckinghamshire

Our clients wanted a classic looking building that felt at home in the back of their garden with a side entrance and offered an internal area for a home office to enjoy the benefits of working from home yet still being able to enjoy a professional work space and keep it separate from the house. They also wanted an area that gave space to allow to sit out and enjoy their sun trap of a garden. The design of this building also combines the shelter of a porch whilst also offering a space to enjoy alfresco dinning or outdoor meetings.

As with all of our clients we enjoyed working with them to come up with a design that made their dream a reality. The beauty of our buildings is that not only do they stand the test of time but they look better with age.
